THIS bobcat made a paw choice of refuge when it climbed a prickly cactus to escape a hungry lion.
The animal raced towards the giant plant after spotting the predator across a desert plain.

It then clambered up the 50ft Giant Saguro Cactus despite it being covered in 2in spikes.

Photographer Curt Fonger snapped the dramatic escape in Gold Canyon, Arizona, and said the lion kept circling the cactus for a few minutes before giving up.

The spooked cat stayed on top of its vantage point for several hours before eventually jumping down.

By that point it must have been feline pretty sore.
