Here's something we never expected: "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" has gone viral ... and PBS actually commissioned the clip currently exploding on the Internet.

While it's usually fans who create must-see videos, this time PBS worked with mash-up artist John D. Boswell (aka "melodysheep") to create a touching (and somewhat creepy) auto-tuned tribute to the legendary children's show host.

Called "Garden of Your Mind," the video puts Fred Rogers' messages to music, while showing clips from the show. Rogers, who died at the age of 74 in 2003, hosted the show from 1968 to 2001.

According to the network, this is the first in a series of viral videos for "PBS icons."
